BRISBANE, GOPIO Queensland held the poster launch for India Day Fair 2021 at Emporium Hotel South Bank on Thursday 8th July 2021. The event was originally planned for 1st of July was had to be postponed after Queensland Premier Anastacia Palaszczuk announced the snap lock down. The lead up time for the launch was very short. The poster would be featured in Brisbane Indian Times on the 10th of July, so the launch had to take place before hand.
One hundred and ten supporters turned up at a very short notice for the sit-down cocktail launch, sounds bit odd, but under the restrictive conditions the cocktail had to be a sit-down function. The staff at the prestigious venue worked in with the committee and making the whole happen at a short notice.
The MC for the event was Anu Sharma, who did a wonderful job of controlling the proceeding of the night assisted by floor managers Arpit Singh and Mayuresh lande. President Rakesh Sharma welcomed everyone to the poster Launch. Umesh Chandra OAM shed light on GOPIO International and the formative stages of GOPIO Queensland. Mr Pars Ram Punj after his speech officially declared India Day Fair 2021 launched. Mr was present at the inaugural global convention in New York when GOPIO International was formed. He together with Umesh Chandra and Dr Maha Sinnathamby was instrumental in the formation of GOPIO Queensland.
Invited dignitaries, supporters and sponsors then launched the Big Bold and Bright poster which features Andrea Lam as the poster Girl IDF 2021. A video featured all previous year’s posters and as soon as it finished playing, poster girl Andrea Lam took to stage with a medley of songs. The feedback on the poster has been very positive, it is un cluttered and clean and fresh having a dedicated area for sponsors and supporters
After Andrea’s Dance, GOPIO Queensland announced their event partners Ecutas production, and invited Paviter Noori to say a few words about this year’s event. Paviter Noori explained the reasoning behind the change of location and disclosed the heme this year was to look local. He promised everyone that the event this year would be a cut above.
The venue this year South Bank Piazza which has greater seating capacity than Roma Street Parklands Amphitheatre. Crowd management is would be more controlled with dedicated entry and exit points, attendees would have to use Qld Governments QR code to gain entry, pre-registration is not required. The stall would be on a solid and even surface, the parade will still take place in the usual manner.
The second entertainment was by a magician who pleased the audience with card tricks, Chandan Das sang a medley of patriotic songs, Usha Chivukula won everyone with a beautiful rendition of “Aye Mere Waton ke logon”. Dream style decorators did the theming and decorations. The photo wall became very popular. Arpit Singh, GOPIO Queensland Treasurer moved a vote of thanks, the event concluded on time at 8:30 pm. The main event will be on 15th August at South bank Piazza from 10:00am till 7:00pm.
