On 1 November 2017, an AGM for GOPIO Qld Chapter was held and we are pleased to announce our new committee members elected to serve our organisation. We welcome on board our new team:


President , GOPIO Queensland

Vinita Khushal is the principal of Bridges Family Law Specialists, and is an accredited specialist in Family Law.  She holds a Masters of Law degree and has over 31 years’ experience in commercial law, litigation and family law.She has been involved with GOPIO Qld from its inception as she was there when the Idea was first floated and was present at the first informal dinner function of GOPIO Qld held at Tattersalls club in Brisbane.  As the first secretary of GOPIO Qld she worked very hard on the Constitution and the first GOPIO Asia Pacific conference organised by the newly formed GOPIO Qld Chapter.  She has been an integral part in organising and event managing the iconic India Day Fair, an event which attracted approximately 20,000 people last year.


First Vice President 

Rakesh Sharma , has been a founding member of GOPIO Queensland, he has served on many community organisations Such as Hindu Mandir Association , Radio 4EB Indian Programming group



Amarjot Goraya, Second Vice President has a strong community connection and has been volunteering her time with many community functions


Immediate Past President

A founder member of GOPIO Queensland,
Usha is the director and licencee of Award winning Globenet Realty, with her  husband Umesh Chandra, she is the co owner of the Brisbane Indian Times and Australian Indian Radio. She is a Commissioner of Declaration, a life member of the Hindu Society of Queensland ,  an active member of the QLD Multicultural Council, Radio 4EB and Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir . Usha has attended many GOPIO International conventions and PBDs.she has been a member since 2008. She, together with her Husband have been named Brisbane City Council's citizen of the year 2019


Joint Secretary of GOPIO Queensland

Ananya has been associated with GOPIO Queensland for over four years , she joined as a student as youth council Coordinator , she is very passionate about GOPIO and is never afraid put her hand up for the many tasks and is a valuable member of our committee 



Avinash Singh - Treasurer GOPIO Qld -  Avi , owns and operates his own small business and has been involved with community  sporting organisations for a while
